In a recently held press conference, the Chinese network giant iQIYI unveiled the list of Chinese dramas that will premiere in the third quarter, i.e., July, August, and September of 2024.
These dramas will cover a wide range of genres, including costume, fantasy, modern, romance, and thrillers. Many prominent names in the Chinese entertainment world, including Tiffany Tang, Betty Sun, Luo Jin, Joseph Zeng, etc., are among the stars who will return.

The story is set in the Anping era of the Dayong Dynasty. Yuan Mo (Tan Jianci), a commoner, has become an official. He joins hands with several powerful individuals, including Wang Kun Wu (Du Chun), the border general, and Yu Chi Hua (starring Adi Kan), a noblewoman. Later, he meets A Shu (Zhou Yiran), a refugee who eventually becomes his maid. These four aspirational individuals join hands to uphold justice.
A Moment But Forever
This upcoming Chinese drama is an adaptation of Shi Si Lang’s novel, titled Unparalleled in the World. The series follows the story of Goddess Wu Shuang (Tiffany Tang), who descends to Earth to retrieve a heavenly treasure called “God’s Left Hand.” However, she has to assassinate Yuan Zhong (Liu Xueyi), the high priest of Youhu Clan. As she delves deep into the latter’s secrets, the two gradually fall in love and team up to save the world.
The White Olive Tree
As seen in the trailer, this Chinese drama follows the story of Song Ran (Liang Jie), a TV reporter from Liang City, who is rescued by Li Zan (Chen Zheyuan), a Chinese engineer, during an encounter. Despite initial differences, their shared ideals lead to them falling in love. However, a bombing attack separates them. After returning to China, they meet each other by luck. With this, their disrupted romance resumes once again.
A Lonely Hero’s Journey
In this Chinese thriller, Gu Yizhong (Joseph Zeng) returns to China after graduating from a foreign university. In a turn of events, he is wrongly accused of being a traitor. To clear his name, Gu becomes an undercover agent for the Communist Party in Suzhou. He eventually exposes the real traitor and also supports the anti-Japanese efforts.
A Beautiful Lie
This 2024 Chinese drama centers around Qin Fei (Zhang Yuxi), an actress who becomes a volunteer in a disaster-stricken area. Although she faces criticism, she eventually proves her dedication by risking her life to save others. She catches the attention of Captain Xing Zhizhi (Chen Xingxu), who had once saved her life in the past. Their bond becomes stronger over time as he helps restore her reputation in the public eye.
Breaking the Shadows
Han Qing (Betty Sun) is a dedicated and hardworking police officer on the Criminal Investigation Team who puts her work above everything. One day, Zhong Wei (Luo Jin) mysteriously vanishes while pursuing a suspect. Since then, Han Qing has been relentlessly searching for clues to get to him and unveil the truth behind his disappearance. Finally, during a new investigation, she digs up a link to Zhong Wei and discovers hidden secrets that lead her to the world of organized crime.
Northward
This upcoming Chinese drama sheds light on Chinese culture and heritage through the eyes of the Shao family, residing along the Grand Canal. Shao Changlai, who dreams of owning his own boat, loses one during the Boxer Rebellion while transporting a foreign traveler. Years later, his son gives up his boat and life to protect the underground resistance against Japanese invaders. Considered the longest artificial waterway the world, the Grand Canal was recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2014.
